Nathan and I met at the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1994. Started dating in 1995 and got married after we graduated in 1998. We lived in Washington for one year and then moved back to Alaska. In 2004 we had Bethany, in 2007 we had William. We lived in Fairbanks until this past summer when we moved to New York.

October 2012

What a Summer and Fall. Moved back to Alaska. Stressful and expensive but totally worth it. Kids are in school with lots of new friends in the neighborhood. Nathan back at UAF, enjoying it. I am working at Home Depot and the kid's school.

Working at the school makes me want to homeschool my kids. I wish I was joking. Kids are mean to each other. Talking smack, calling each other names. The teacher tries to teach everyone what they need to learn, but there are so many distractions that the kids get confused. I'm confused, it's like trying to herd cats. And I really wish that parents would realize what their behavior does to their kids. These kids come in cryng, hungry, upset. Most of the kids have divorced parents. Then there are step-families, aunts, uncles, cousins, bofriends, girlfriends. Etc. Etc. I can't keep them all straight. We had a parent today refuse to send in lunch or lunch money. But the kid has charged too many lunches and the kitchen can't give him any more. So...no lunch. How is this okay? Kids are coming in with bruises and bad attitudes. It is so sad. If Ididn't have to work, I think I would seriously homeschool my kids. It would keep them away from bullies and they could continue to socialze with their friends after school.
